The Chairman of the Rental Disputes Center, Judge Abdulqader Mousa, stated that "the use of modern communication methods such as WhatsApp messages and email as evidence is admissible and relied upon in issuing judicial verdicts in rental disputes, provided that the disputing parties are questioned about them and acknowledge them in the case record, with the incidence of reciprocated messages."
Mousa added, "communication methods between the landlord and tenant, through contemporary means of communication, include text messages, email, WhatsApp conversations, and others, to ensure rights in the contractual relationship."
He explained, "circumstantial evidence is considered indirect evidence, which gives WhatsApp messages or email correspondence validity in rental disputes, where one party relies on them as evidence against the other."
He further stated, "The law allows for the acceptance of these methods, provided that the disputing parties acknowledge the receipt of these messages, which are used to communicate disputed matters between them." He noted that the RDC has dealt with numerous lawsuits relying on these new pieces of evidence, considering their validity.
